I have the honour to forward for Your Excel- -lency's information the enclosed correspondence which has pass- -ed between this Government and the Government of Macao on the subject of the trade in morphine and compounds of opium, and has resulted in the issue of the attached Gazette Notification No.
261 of the 1st. September, 1911, to the effect that the importa- -tion of morphine, and cocaine and compounds of opium into Macao is prohibited
(a) unless they are intended for medicinal purposes in
which case importation can only be made in virtue of a licence issued by the Superintendent of Opium
in Macao, specifying the quantity and declaring that such articles are intended for medicinal
purposes:
(b) unless they are intended for re-exportation in
which case importation can only be made in virtue of a licence issued by the Superintendent of Opium in Macao, specifying the quantity, to be imported and declaring that such articles will upon their
be arrival here de posited in the Government Store.
